The Castle Point Community Safety Partnership (CSP), formerly the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership, is a multi agency group established under an Act of Parliament to reduce crime and disorder, anti-social behaviour and re-offending. It works to maintain the borough's position among the safest areas of Essex.
Among partners with a statutory responsibility to work with the CSP are Essex Police, Essex Police Authority, Essex Fire Authority, Castle Point Borough Council, NHS South East Essex, Essex Probation Service and Essex County Council.
Other organisations and voluntary groups represented on the CSP include Canvey Island Town Council, Crimestoppers, Canvey Island Youth Project, the Integrated Youth Service, Victim Support, Neighbourhood Watch and Extended Schools.
The CSP undertakes an annual Strategic Assessment of local community safety and crime and, arising from this, sets out a Partnership Plan to tackle the main priorities identified.
Its current key areas of work target violent crime, burglary, anti-social behaviour (including criminal damage), re-offending, drug and alcohol misuse, public perceptions of crime and anti-social behaviour, speeding and irresponsible road use.
